Toast 9 updates

Thanks Tsantee! I moved the existing Toast app to the trash, downloaded the update, performed the install, and everything seems to be working well. I had this exact same problem this morning. Roxio's Knowledge Database was useless. Fortunately, I found this forum and this thread, which helped solve my problem. I encountered the same "privileges" problem as Brockytop installing the update, but found I had sufficient privileges to dump the existing Toast 9 folder in the trash, after which the installation went just fine.

What I'd like to know is how long this update let us hope it works has been sitting at Roxio's website; I was supposed to get automatic notification of such things, but heard nothing. Just happened to check in today after an absence of a couple of months. The update has been available for about a month. I don't know why the update notification didn't work for you and probably others. I am yet another who experienced this exact problem. I originally bought Toast 9 in a box, with a CD.

But I trashed the entire installation and started from scratch. After I installed again from the CD the update immediately appeared. I downloaded the Zip file, double clicked for the DMG.

I went back to the disc image and opened it, I dragged the new Toast into the applications folder next to it. It was a bit tricky dealing with CD Key because it asked for the key provided via the Internet. But I entered my CD Key and voila, it worked. It may be important to note that when I opened Toast, a warning appeared on my Mac telling me that this is application was downloaded over the Internet. I clicked okay. Surprisingly, when I opened the related app, CD Spin Doctor, once again the warning appeared that this app was downloaded via the Internet.

From my POV, I would have to say that this was the messiest installation of any piece of software I have ever encountered on a Mac. The worst. This simply should not be the case. I tried deleting the folder and then re-installed the update - still no Tivo Transfer. All I can think to suggest is choosing the Toast setup assistant in the Toast Help menu and making certain you turned on the Tivo transfer in the window that gives you that option.

Thank you both, brockytop and tsantee, I followed your instructions and it worked for me too. I had asked Tsantee for help on another page but kept looking for answers while waiting and came across this posting. Thank you again! I just ran into the problem with upgrading to 9. I got the error message "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items.

But Toast 9 Titanium is a remarkable piece of software because despite the remarkable feature set, the interface is so easy to use that Toast seems, well, so simple that it cannot do the things it can.

Not so though and some of the other new features on offer include the ability to pause and restart a burning job, should you need to free up some processor power during a big burn and you also get disc burning support for streaming video to your iPhone.

During data burning during, say, a large backup session, data can now be split or spanned across multiple discs without breaking it up. Duplication of unprotected DVDs you own is possible now to boot, so you can easily back-up old iMovie projects that you might have littering your hard drive or rip unprotected DVDs for playback on a PSP or iPhone.

Natty fit-to-DVD video compression is in there that helps to squeeze larger video or media files onto a DVD that would not normally fit.
