Its not a performance Java! My PC used to have Live toolbar installed. Note that the Live toolbar is not selectable under the pop-up menu. So far, IE7 is stable since the reinstallation, which again, does not include the installation of the Live toolbar.
I disabled and uninstalled all of my Addons and the problem went away. We did something similar to another of our LifeBooks here that hit the same problem upon upgrade to SP3, which resolves our problem. The IE7 on this LifeBook had been behaving well for slightly over a fortnight now. We disable or uninstall all Add-ons except for under Internet Properties, Programs tab, Manage add-ons button :. I assume, the problem is with Java aplets.
