Tungsten e original software

That would be great, I did put it up on ebay so well see what happens. Not expecting a ton of cash, but would rather recycle it than throw it out!! I even found the original software disc.. Amazing the things I keep.. Messages: Likes Received: 15 Trophy Points: As far as I know there is no post limit for newbies or something People would buy it, just since they are hard to find.

There's also tons of online materials which discuss and demonstrate ways to upgrade the unit, from increasing the memory to 1MB or more to upgrading the OS to PalmOS 2. All told, your unit could effectively become substantially better than the once state-of-the-art Palm Pilot "Professional" unit - and for a very low cost as well.

I've personally got no real interest in this particular device and certainly little desire to add yet another "vintage" PDA to my collection of now obsolete and unused gizmos. Sadly, I would disassemble the unit, extract the desired components, and either trash the rest or add it to my junkbox for future projects.

So it would be a shame for me to purchase the unit if somebody else actually wants to make better use of it Konrad Pierce , Apr 15, Messages: Likes Received: 47 Trophy Points: Could you try it for me?

I think the power button design is a great idea, because when I take out the styli, it automatically turn the handheld on, not wasting time! Or is there a backup battery of some sort?

Thanks Posted by anonymous on James, It does appear that the Tungsten E does trickle charge from the USB connection, I've done this myself and have found references to it on the net, but I find it odd that the PDF manual that comes with the E doesn't mention this at all.

Jason, if the battery dies completely then the E will lose it's memory. I haven't found that to be a problem since I just leave the E charging on the USB port every night, and if it does lose all it's memory you just need to sync back up to your desktop.

One tip I have for fellow tungsten E users. If your battery life seems to be poor, try doing a hard reset whilst the charger is plugged in.

This resets the battery-reporting feature and you get a more accurate representation of battery life. Have read loads of reviews comparing both, but still could not make up my choice :- My only concern with Palm PDAs is the fact that many of them, after a year or two, start having digitizer problems.

Can anyone comment on this? I am so glad that I stumbled upon this site re: the E. I absolutely love it; I'm a former Visor Edge owner which was wonderful but limited in memory. I've been having problems with the battery holding a charge and I believe I got my answer on this site. That was wonderful. Hi: I purchased a Palm Tungsten E today and installed the disc. I have tried at least a dozen times to synch my Palm to my Dell Inspiron laptop, and it will not work. The Palm support website is not very user friendly.

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your help. Ashley Fletcher Posted by Ashley Fletcher on Ashley, Can't offer any tips right now, but maybe you could give more details, such as what exactly happens, what you expect to happen, any error messages that get displayed, etc. I hope the people who mentioned being interested in getting this haven't done it yet: I got one this week on overstock.

So you might not be able to get such a good deal now. I'm very happy with my "blemished" one, came with everything you'd get in the box, and not really blemished, as far as I can see. Maybe a couple of scratches that would have appeared in the first few days of use anyway. Just arrived loose in some bubble wrap. I'm happy. I just oredered a palm tungsten E, I was interested in documents to go, above all.

But it does not come loaded from the start, do i have to download it? If not, how can I make it work? I was looking for a non expensive PDA but with good tools to work with like Documents to Go , so i found the E and it's really great.

Pablo, Documents to Go is in the installation CD, you must install it after installing Palm Desktop, and really works fine. My husband bought a Palm Tungsten E after me and when we set his up it used my name as user. How so we remove my name and set up up with his own user profile? We have tried to uninstall everything and reinstall but it will only recognize my user name.

Is there a hard reset which will erase everything on his Palm? Bernadette: hard reset should work like with older Palms: hold down "up" then press Power, release power then release "up". Under their instruction I have unistalled and then reloaded the software over and over again and made all sorts of other adjustments.

I have Windows XP Home. I keep getting the same error message "the connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established" over and over again..

One thing, when I click the 'hotsync' icon at the bottom right hand corner of my desktop it does NOT have "usb". It just has "network", "modem" and "local serial" on the drop down list. Do you think they packaged the wrong software? And if so why won't Palm send me the correct software despite my asking them to? All advice most welcome. I'm getting desperate. I'm concerned about battery life on Tungsten E.

Exactly how many hrs of use can be expected between charging? And is there a battery life indicator? Thank you guys. I go to Palm and they say use the software disc that came with it.

Any way of obtaining a copy of the original software or Desktop on line? Otherwise all these tools will not work for me Posted by Scott on Truly this is a sweet piece of equipment, but getting it to connect to the internet is not quite so sweet, up to this tyme i have tried everything, the only way it will seem to make it to the internet is through a dailup modem on my nokia phone, but wouldn't u know, my gsm network does not support digital dailing, thus no internet.

The palm desktop can be downloaded from the palm support website, together with the hotsync mamager, and the doucuments to go can also be gotten for free Posted by Fiifi Markin on I am trying to load MP3 files onto the device via the Quick Load.

When I initiate Hot Syn the tranferring starts but does not stop. Am I doing this correctly or better yet what is the correct way to load and play MP3 files. Thanks Posted by Ray G. My gripe is the battery life which is totally pathetic.

This means that I'm limited to how much I can use the device when I'm away from either a PC or a powerpoint. I've had to go back to the old Palm on more than a few occasions already. Apart from the battery issue, I really like it. It's got a nice "feel" to it and the screen which probably drains the battery Sue B, You can enhance your battery life by doing the following: 1.

Keep the screen brightness at its lowest level. This is adequate in most situations. You may also want to reduce the number of minutes for Auto-off after. GeraldZ, I have a T. Try each USB port on your computer. Keep a log of all combinations you have tried, so that you don't miss anything. Help please Posted by Harry Graham on I'm about to flip my lid!

I'm on my second Tungsten E. I loved it to begin with, but am now having problems with the second one. The first one died completely. I'm trying to get rid of a hot sync clitch and am not having any success. I'm also having problems trying to delete programs only to have them be updated with a new hot sync. I would like to do a hard reset, however it is not clear how to do this. I can get the screen up that asks me to press the UP button to perform the hard reset. There is no UP button on an E???

What IS the up button??? Every button I've tried merely stops the hard reset. I have spent 4 hours trying to resolve this so far tonight. I figured out what to push for the hard reset HOW do I delete the programs 3rd party software from my computer to keep it from getting restored on the palm? I cannot load my lotus calender on my tungsten E. I think it fell on the floor not far or a hard fall, just a wood floor and after that the battery wouldn't charge, though it did work.

Until the battery lost all power, now it's just dark. My girlfriend just gave me hers, she's had enough if it. I cant seem to get this tungsten E to turn on either Can I if it is really only a day warranty?

I get a error Because machine is a Dell with win 2k OS and I am not the adminstrator because it is a company. Still can't install Palm Desktop to sync Tungsten E. Does anyone have any ideas? I've been at this for a week and palm has no useful help Posted by walter on I have the sqme error and investigating. I have a Tungsten E and its 3 months old. It crashed last night , screen froze same thing as the guy above. Well, when it finally worked All my details had disappeared contacts everything..

Any chance of getting it back? The device would lock up for no reason and not powerdown or up, even when fully charged. I think that it is disgraceful that they attempt to dump defective goods on the general public.

I will keep you posted on how it goes. All works great now. Can anyone help me? I just got a new Tungsten E 3 wks. All of a sudden I can't get in. When I turn it on , all that shows is "tap on the centre of the target. Looking forward to response fron anyone before I throw it out the window. Am trying to play MP3 on Tungsten E but it keeps doing an auto-shutdown after a few minutes.

How do I turn this feature off so I can listen to a whole album? Any ideas? My Tungsten E is not syncing my list of contacts. I did at some point, but stopped.
